Broomfield Hospital will be opening its doors to the new £148m PFI wing on Sunday 12th September 2010 and Hospital Radio Chelmsford will be broadcasting live from the new reception area all day.
Programmes start at 9am with John Barker gaining the first entry to the new PFI wing. Station Manager Phil Meacham is on air between 11-1pm with the official opening by MEHT Trust Management. In the afternoon Adam Ravenscroft and Lindsay Barrell chat with the staff involved with the project and visitors of the open day.
Phil Meacham said, “It is a very important day for Hospital Radio Chelmsford now that Broomfield hospital is our home. This let’s us truly reflect life around the hospital with those who are in the wards of the hospital.”
Graham Ramsay, chief executive of mid Essex Hospital services NHS Trust, said:” I am very proud of this brand new hospital building; it brings state of the art hospital facilities to the people of mid Essex and beyond. I would like to thank everyone who has worked so hard on all aspects of the project, especially Bouygues UK – our private sector partner who were responsible for the construction.”
“Despite the construction work being completed the hard work is far from over as over the coming weeks hospital staff will be finalising the arrangements to move into the new hospital and we will be preparing the new building ready to receive the first patients at the beginning of October.”
